Since before recorded time women have used perfumed oils, soaps, lotions, and make up to both enhance their personal appearance and to prepare themselves for religious ritual. Women have performed spells using perfumes, hairbrushes, mirrors, lotions, masks, and face coloring. These spells sought love but conferred protection, purified the spirit, opened the psychic senses, and prepared the woman for sacred ritual.

Today the cosmetic industry bombards us with images of what we should be rather than letting us be who we are. Beauty comes from within that part of a woman who is Goddess, whether she is large or small, blonde or brunette, dark skinned or light.

Everyone knows that picking the right dress is just about as important as anything. But if your makeup isn't just right, the evening could become disastrous. The solution is to use makeup that will enhance the dress and not take away form it. Because prom night if often a long one, you want to be sure that your makeup will stay up as late as you do.

Make-up tips
When choosing make-up, especially foundation and blusher, buy oil-free products. Make-up that is water-based and non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging) is the best option. There are also oil-absorbing foundations that help keep oil off the face.

Use a daily sunscreen that is not oil-based, preferably a gel, as it's less greasy.
Be sure to use a minimum SPF of 15. If you have breakouts, use a cleanser with salicylic acid to help exfoliate pores. Salicylic acid in moisturisers can also be.
Applying Your Makeup
When applying makeup, the first thing is to remove old makeup or dirt. The night before, you might want to use a mask (one that you have used before) so that you feel extra refreshed before the big evening. Getting ready the day of will be stressful enough, so eliminate stress where you can. After cleaning your face, apply an even coat of foundation - you want it to match the color of your skin, and using a slightly tinted foundation can give those pale faces a livelier look. But try not to over apply .It helps if you use a well-lit room when you do your makeup. Keep it natural looking.
